LO1 - KTA 4: Photostory Script
1.Portrait Photography
The purpose of portrait photography is to show the emotion or the way someone feels about something in a deep personal way, this allows you to get some brilliant photos of a person in a mood wether is positive or negative. The first photograph is of Albert Einstein and this was taken by Yousuf Karsh in 1948. The way Einstein is holding his hands together shows he in sprits of deep sincerity and mixed emotions. the way he is positioned also can tell us how he feels and what he is trying to express using emotion. The second photo is by and he has taken a photo of winston churchill during WW2 and he has taken this photo to convey churchill's concern and sorrow for his country during the pressing times.
The fact that he has a walking stick really shows off his age and how the war has effected him.
2. War Photography
the purpose of war photography is document different events that happen in the war zone and express the different emotions of the soldiers and the people/civilians. The mood of the situation is also expressed by the way people are positioned and they way they look and what body language they emanate. most of the war photographs are long shots or mid shots, they are both usually directed at people or soldiers to capture the action and essence of the war. the two photos of war i have chosen both show project a strong message for viewers of the photographs, the first one is a photograph from John D McHugh who has taken a photo of him and his platoon pinned down behind a rock, it is a low mid shot so its taken from a ground perspective at looking up at the soldiers. the message the photo is portraying is that the soldiers are going through the worst and have to put up with a lot of stress John D McHugh was shot 5 minutes after taking this photo and survived it just goes to show that people will go extensive lengths to get a good shot. The second photo i have chose in from maids Nissen who took a photo of a Libyan man waving the Libyan flag whilst standing on a burning tank - This message is the most powerful from the two as the photo is showing and portraying victory and victory is a very recognisable thing. it is known worldwide and all ages will know what victory is.
3. Macro Photography
The purpose of macro photography is to capture all of the small things and tiny details that create a photo of beauty and that has artistic features. Both of the photos are from macro photographer heater angel, the first photo is of a small barn owl and the photographer is trying to capture its beauty by taking the photo from the front of the owl. This could be classed as portrait photography but its an owl.
The second photograph is of a honey bee in the hives catacombs eating honey, this photo is also meant to portray beauty and how simple things can be but how beautiful they are.
4. Landscape Photography
The purpose of landscape photography is to capture natures essence and the sheer beauty of nature.
Both photographs have a unknown artist but both are of top grade quality, The first photograph is of a pavement road leading into the distance, this is known as a leading line photography and is very popular with the landscape photographers. The second photograph is another example of leading lines photography and it is used in such a way to bring out the colour of the bushes and the tree at the end off the field.
